Submissions
We accept any form of the written word, as long as it is your own original work (so no AI generation or fanfiction, please). Slap a genre label on it—or call it genreless—and send it. Though the journal does have a political slant, the editor believes that politics can be found in and severely impacts the everyday. It is those everyday moments that 25:05 seeks.
For pieces written in response to something else (ekphrastic poetry, book reviews, etc.), please mention the inspiration in your cover letter or in the document.
Please limit submissions to up to 5,000 words or 3 pieces total. Send 3 stories of 1,000 words each, 3 poems, one long 5,000 word piece, you get the gist.
Please wait until you receive a response from me before you submit again.
Please also send work that has not been published before, even online.
While we do accept simultaneous submissions, if your piece(s) are accepted elsewhere, please use this Google form to withdraw them from your submission.
I aim to respond to each and every submission in under 3 months. If more than 3 months has passed, feel free to reach out to the editor at 2505magazine@gmail.com.
If your piece contains graphic content, thank you for tackling that kind of subject matter—it takes a lot of courage. Please include a content warning in your cover letter, as while the editor loves hard topics, the editor also loves being prepared to tackle any subject.
25:05 Magazine asks for first North American serial rights and non-exclusive archival rights to any piece accepted for publication. I also ask that if your piece is reprinted anywhere that 25:05 be credited as the first publisher.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the means to be a paying market right now. If that’s a dealbreaker, I wish you the best in finding your piece’s forever home.
To submit, please fill out the Google form below. If you have any troubles with the form, please reach out to me at 2505magazine@gmail.com.
